Ok, here is another post I wanted to do for some time and just forgot! Okinawa World! This place is perfect of the visiting in-laws haha. It is all about Okinawa and it has plenty of shopping for “Okinawa” and “Japanese” things, local dancing, and other exhibits…basically perfect for visiting in-laws and friends to check off their Okinawa experience to-do list. You can spend almost a full day there if you wanted to to, as they have food and drinks on site too. I am not going to get too much into it, as there are plenty of reviews of this place already on the interwebs. But here is the Google map link and brochure for your use…have fun!

AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom / 이온 몰 오키나와 Rycom

So it has been awhile since I have posted anything, so I thought I would dust off the keyboard and get something newish up.  Well the AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom has been open since April 2015 and so it isn’t really “new” anymore, but I thought posting the shopping  guides would be nice for those planning your shopping venture there.  Just know it can get pretty hectic during holidays and weekends, especially if they have some type of crazy sale/campaign going on. But the new reality this mall made is that it basically made every other shopping mall on this island irrelevant. You can find just about anything you need there, especially if you don’t want to wait for Amazon…like me. When I decide I want something, I want it now! TAX FREE SHOPPING GUIDE

Cafe Curcuma / Asian Herb Restaurant / 카페 강황

If you are looking to kill an afternoon eating some great Thai food, while enjoying a killer view of the ocean, and want plenty of things to see within walking distance, then Café Curcuma is your place! It is about a 40 minute drive from Kadena, which is a little off the beaten path, but I like these kind of places because of that(the wife loves the food!). But even though it is still out in the southern farming area of Okinawa, it is still kind of touristy, as there will be waves of Chinese/Korean tourists that show up through out the day to take pictures/eat/explore. I am sure doing the week that may not be the issue, but during the weekends (only time I have been), it might get busy in the restaurant, and you will have to wait a bit to get a seat. I would say it is great for couples/adults, kids may be bored though, but you can get strollers in there if you have babies. However, you will have to stow those big American strollers somewhere before you could enjoy the restaurant, has there isn't much room between the tables, which is common in Okinawa of course.

American Village’s Restaurants Guide

We tried a restaurant in American village recently and on the way there I grabbed the tourist guide that has most of the restaurants there. While the guide is not completely inclusive, you will get an idea of what kind of food they have there. However, a short walk around the area will show you that there are plenty of hidden places to eat at, with larger mainstream establishments that you can eat at as well.
